Incendio Incites Orbs at Bisbee Royale

The orbs were with Incendio playing at Arizona’s Bisbee Royale on Friday, October 26, 2012

Artists and musicians in the attentive crowd were mesmerized by the latin-guitar-world fusion groove that Incendio lay down with haunting passion.

It was a night of enthusiastic response to intricate rhythms and guitar riffs.

Bisbee belly dancers joined the band for the second half of the show.

The orbs gave full approval of the band and dance combo.

Once again the Bisbee Royale lit up the universe with an otherworldly fusion of music and orbs.

Thanks to Jean-Pierre Durand, Liza Carbe, Jim Stubblefield, and Nicole Falzone of Incendio.

Bisbee Mine Tour Orbs

We have a guest orbist for this post, Mark Apel, who took these photos a couple of years ago and has been scratching his head ever since about what exactly he caught on film. (Okay, I made up “orbist” but it sounds good.  And, in the digital age it’s a darn shame we don’t catch anything on film anymore because that’s a handy phrase.)

Mark was at the Bisbee Royale recently when I was photographing the bands and I stopped by his table to show the orbs that were showing up in my images. The light went off in his head as he recalled the photos he’d taken during a Bisbee mine tour and no one knew what all those circles in the air were. When he sent me the images I was delighted to see the characteristic details and textures that I’ve come to associate with the orbs I find.

Looks like I’m going to have to put on a jacket and take the mine tour again, this place is rockin’ with orbs! For those who would also like to make the trip here is a link with all the details for a very informative tour into one of the most famous mines in the west: The Copper Queen Mine. http://www.queenminetour.com/

Thanks to Mark Apel for sharing a stunning gathering of orbs.

If anyone else has orbs they would like me to post on my blog, let me know. The orbs love an audience!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Silhouettes

I’m trying out the Weekly Photo Challenge since it enables me to add more daylight to my blog and have an orb of the sun at the same time. There were some lovely silhouettes in my most recent post, but for me the challenge was to keep it in present time, not last month. Luckily, power came to our house this week when the electric company’s service man hooked up the line to our new electric service entry. It was a glorious moment, an affirmation that letting go of the past makes way for the future.

Balloons: Orbs of a different color

After night it is a relief to see day, and so for this post I thought I’d lighten it up a bit with those other orbs in my life: hot air balloons.

Sun washes over us after arriving at the field before dawn.

Hot air ballooning brings out the whole family to share the excitement of sending a balloon aloft.

The roar of fire adds to the intensity of the moment.

Everyone has a camera to record the novelty of balloons above White Sands.

Even with the occasional blast of flame, there is something very peaceful about ballooning.

Pilots don’t like to fly too high at White Sands just in case they land in a missile range.

So, you’ll see the balloons hugging the ground and skimming overhead.

Sometimes you’ll be flying above the crowd.

Or, you may be chasing your balloon hither and yon.

We are back to the night when orbs glow in the dark.  Orbs of a different color.

Back to Nature Orbs

I’ve been walking outside the last two nights in a quiet quest for orbs. I find myself mentally requesting them to appear, because I know they’re there, but will they reveal themselves?

There is a sense of drifting by, no place in particular to go.

I point my camera into the dark hoping for a revelation.

The orbs are so faint that I only know one has been caught on a branch when I return home to the computer.

And so I must trust that the orbs are there even when unseen at the time of flash.

Then it’s party time and all the orbs I was looking for have gathered at one tree like a flock of birds whooping it up, laughing that they knew where they were all the time.

Closeup on Orbs

For this post I’m going to zero in on some of the orbs which appeared with the bands Pick and Holler and The Tryst at the Bisbee Royale this past Saturday night.  There was such a flock of orbs attracted to these superb bands that some may have been overlooked in the crowd, or at least deserve closer scrutiny.

You may be asking, what exactly are orbs? I know that Pick and Holler asked that question just today.

Klaus Heinemann, co-author of the Orb Project, holds a Ph.D. in experimental physics and was a material science researcher at NASA, considers orbs to be “emanations of spiritual beings”. Just like the headlights of a car are not the driver, the orbs are not the spiritual being, but its emanation.

Dr. Miceal Ledwith, co-author of the Orb Project, was professor of systematic theology and then president of the Maynooth College university, thinks that the orbs are revealed through a fluorescence in which they shoot back the light of the camera’s flash.

From my observation, orbs are attracted to heartfelt moments of enthusiasm and passion.

That is not a dinner plate on the pianist’s shirt, it’s an emanation of a spiritual being. I say that out of respect to Dr. Heinemann who thinks that calling them orbs is like calling royalty by their first names.

One does get a sense of profoundness from the larger orbs.

To see the orbs in your photos you’ll have to slide up the brightness and slide down the contrast to bring out the fainter background orbs.

This orb appeared between Nowhere Man and Whiskey Girl on Saturday night and it was so prominent that I went around the Bisbee Royale showing the image to anyone I could find. We’ll end this post with a few more cameos:

Thanks to Matt Minjares, Carolyn Camp, Lindsay Cates, and Ty Peterson of Pick and Holler.

Keli Carpenter, Taylor Bungard, Aldy Montufar, Aaron Hultstrand, and Erik Truelove of The Tryst.

Amy Lopez Ross and Derrick Ross of Nowhere Man and Whiskey Girl.

Sloane Bouchever, proprietor and general manager of the Bisbee Royale.

And, Klaus Heinemann, Ph.D. for taking the time to look at this blog and encourage me to continue my quest for orbs.

Orbs Dance to Pick and Holler

This is the scene that greeted me last night at the Bisbee Royale. A lively band that sent the orbs soaring.

Pick and Holler came to Bisbee to wow the crowd of 1000 Stair Climbers.

No one was shy, everyone was ready to party.

You might wonder if all these orbs are perhaps a result of the theater lighting. If that were the case, I wouldn’t need flash to reveal the orbs, but I can get the theater lighting without flash.

There is a theory that the more you look for orbs, the more you will find in your photos.

Of course the orbs are here for this enthusiasm and passion.

Pick and Holler gets everyone dancing, including orbs, at the Bisbee Royale.

Tryst and Bisbee Royale: Hot Spot tonight: Orbs agree!

The scene of the Bisbee Royale 1000 Stair Climb after the after parties.

Pick and Holler was just what the runners needed to let off steam and enjoy the evening.

Nowhere Man and Whiskey Girl helped us wind down with their renowned lamentations.

I stepped out of the Bisbee Royale between bands and when I returned a sea change had occcured.

Musicians highjacked our reality.

Tryst had arrived with a capital A.

Tryst commanded our attention and put us in present time.

Tryst doesn’t just play songs, it played us an album of searing demands.

Even the orbs were lining up in salute.

The orbs know: we are a hot spot in the universe tonight.

Tryst is what the Bisbee Royale was made for: providing the best venue for the best sounds to open our hearts and blow our minds.

Bisbee 1000 Stair Climb

The big day is here, the one people have been practicing months for: Bisbee 1000 Stair Climb. In today’s post I’m celebrating those who ran through the sun’s orbs, felt but not seen.

Some ran in perfect harmony

While others strode with purposeful intent.

All were given a rousing cheer by those of us who do not climb stairs in the heat of the sun.

We finally realized that what the runners needed more than cheers was water.

Relief at last.

For some it meant a refreshing interlude.

Pure joy for a boy.

A time to dance and rejuvenate.

Or just feel blessed.

And have a bit of fun after a hard climb of over 350 stairs.

Happiness swirls forth.

Ready for the next half of the climb.

It’s a good day in the neighborhood.

Night Before Race Orbs

Sounds of merriment ring up the hills into my room.  It’s the night before the Bisbee 1000 Stair Climb and people from all over the world (I heard French tonight) are here to climb our stairs.

People are signing up for the privilege of drinking craft beers to ease their nerves before the big race.

Ah, there’s those french speakers.

We’re not quite sure what beer has to do with stair climbing, but it’s Friday night and you have to do something with the out of towners.

You can tell the out of towners because they wear shorts.

Here’s a local who’s really not that interested in all the hoopla.

It’s just a beautiful night to be out and about in Bisbee, Arizona.

Big day tomorrow, they’ll be racing past my house in the morning.  I’ll be clapping and cheering on those stair climbing adventurists.
